You can directly support your employees dependent coverage. Note that there is no limit to the number of children.

  • Family coverage (spouse/partner, children): Ranges from $166 to $326/mo
    (This range will only be applicable if an employee adds dependents. If dependents aren't added, the cost remains at the employee-only rate of $113/mo).

Inpatient Coverage

Cover Limit: $1M

Includes hospital room charges, nursing care, surgical procedures, and medications administered during the hospital stay.

Full refunds are available for intensive care, prescription drugs and materials, surgical fees, including anesthesia, physician and therapist fees, surgical appliances, diagnostic tests (for in-patient and day-care treatments only), organ transplants, and more.

Pension Plan

Remote offers an optional pension plan, which includes life, disability, waiver of premiums, and workplace accident insurance.

If you would like to offer the pension plan you must offer it to all Swedish employees on your team.

Starting January 1, 2025, we are expanding our pension plan options to provide more flexibility for customers with three different contribution structures:

Pension Plan options:

  • Current Plan (4.5% + 30% Tier):
    The existing plan will remain available, with a 4.5% employer contribution on pensionable salary up to 7.5x the IBA, and 30% on salary between 7.5 and 30x the IBA.
  • 4.5% Flat Rate Plan (New Option):
    The employer contributes 4.5% on pensionable salary up to 30x the Income Base Amount (IBA)
  • 10% Flat Rate Plan (New Option):
    The employer contributes 10% on pensionable salary up to 30x the Income Base Amount (IBA)
  • Premium Plan (6.5% + 32% Tier) (New Option):
    The employer contributes 6.5% of pensionable salary up to 7.5x the IBA and 32% on salary between 7.5 and 30x the IBA.

The company pays all the contributions and no contributions are required from employees.

"Pensionable salary" is defined as basic salary only.

Membership in the pension scheme is open to employees aged 18 to 65.

Occupational Life Insurance

From January 1 2025, all Sweden-based team members will be automatically covered by this group life insurance, a benefit offered by most Swedish employers as a supplement to the state survivor's pension.

There is no action on your side. Employees will be enrolled automatically to the Bliwa Life Insurance.
TGL insurance starts on the 1st day of the employee's starting month and ends on the last day of the month following their departure.

Who is eligible?

All employees hired by Remote in Sweden are automatically covered by Bliwa Life Insurance.

How much does the life insurance cover?

Lump sum benefit for 2025:

  • Basic amount is SEK 352,800 (6x Price Base Amount -PBA) for death before age 55 or if there are children under 17.
  • Reduces to 1 x PBA between ages 64 and 65.

Additional benefits for employees with children under 20 at the time of death:

  • Under 17 years: 2 PBA
  • 17-19 years: 1.5 PBA
  • 19-20 years: 1 PBA

The full benefits apply if the employee works at least 16 hours per week; otherwise, reduced amounts are applied for those working 8-16 hours per week.

PBA for 2025 is SEK 58,800.

Can employees opt out?

No, employees cannot opt out of the Bliwa insurance.

Occupational Life Insurance cost

For the 2025 policy year the cost is 35SEK per month per active employee. The cost is 100% covered by the company.

Customers may elect to offer the mental health program benefits to their teams and can choose among 5 different plans. If one of the mental health benefit is offered, the employee will automatically be enrolled and you will be charged for it monthly. However, employees have the option to opt out of the benefit. If they choose to do so, they will be unenrolled and charges will stop effective from the next month.

It is essential to be aware that in certain countries, Mental Health benefits may be categorized as 'Benefits in Kind' (BIK). This categorization means that the monthly premiums, which the company pays for the benefit, might be counted as part of the employee's taxable income according to the local tax laws.

Remote Global Business Travel Insurance

The rates listed here are for November 1, 2024, to April 30, 2025.

Remote has partnered with Expatriate Group, a specialized insurance provider offering comprehensive business travel insurance solutions designed for global businesses. Remote's business travel is a Multi-trip Insurance and it includes:

  • Emergency Medical Support with access to emergency medical care and evacuation services in case of illness or injury while traveling.
  • Baggage and Business Equipment Coverage that protects personal belongings and essential business equipment during travel
  • Travel Delay and Trip Cancellation for unexpected travel delays or cancellations
  • Personal Liability and Accidental Death with coverage up $100,000 per trip across all plans.
  • Access to a 24/7 helpline, providing immediate assistance for travel emergencies, medical support, and more, no matter where employees are in the world.
  • Up to 42 days of annual Multi-Trip coverage.

Customers can offer Global Business Travel Insurance to selected employees, choosing from five levels of coverage. This insurance can be provided on an individual basis, without needing to offer it to the entire team. However, the chosen plan must be consistent for all eligible employees within the same country. Employees also have the option to opt-out, and if they do, their coverage and charges will end in the following billing cycle.

It is essential to be aware that in certain countries, Business Travel Insurance may be categorized as 'Benefits in Kind' (BIK). Important:

  • Prices listed in USD, local currency equivalent will be determined based on the exchange rate at the time of invoicing.
  • For terminated employees, billing will cease as of the last day of the month. However, if during the active policy, the employee files a claim, the monthly premium will continue until next renewal.
  • Once the benefits is selected, it is a one-year commitment or until the next renewal, whichever comes first. You will not be able to opt out of the plan until this time period has been reached. If you do not cancel the coverage during this period, it will automatically renew.
  • All claims payment are made to the employees by the insurance company directly

However, we do recommend that employers in Sweden offer benefits to their employees, which allows them to access a wider range of options for providers and specialists as well as significantly shorter wait times. Our plans also offer global coverage (excluding the US) to protect your employees when they are traveling outside their home country. We do not add a markup on any benefits premiums or administration costs.

Understanding Hiring in Sweden
