Below are the details of your Life, AD&D, and Disability insurance through Guardian. This plan was chosen by your company and is facilitated through Remote as the Employer of Record. This page provides an overview of what is covered under your plan, how to enroll, and how to use your benefits!

Your Life Insurance Plan

The coverage described in this guide is effective January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026.

At Remote, we provide comprehensive financial protection through Guardian, combining Life Insurance, Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D), and Disability (Short- and Long-Term) coverage. This coverage is 100% employer-funded and automatically provided to you, offering peace of mind and financial security in the event of serious illness, injury, or death.

Benefit

Description

Life Insurance

  • 2x annual salary, up to $400,000.
  • Guarantee Issue: Full coverage without medical questions when first eligible.
  • Waiver of Premium: Premiums waived if totally disabled before age 60, through age 65 if conditions met.
  • Portability / Conversion: Option to keep coverage after leaving Remote (subject to age limits).

Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D)

  • Coverage: Equal to the Life Insurance amount (2× annual salary, up to $400,000).
  • Description: Pays an additional benefit if death or certain severe injuries result from an accident.
  • Covered Losses: Life, limbs, sight, speech, hearing, paralysis, or cognitive loss.
  • Additional Features:
  • Seatbelt/Airbag Benefit: +10% (up to $25,000).
  • Child Education Benefit: Up to $5,000 per year (four years max).
  • Exclusions: No benefit for self-inflicted injury, war, felony, civil disorder, or intoxication.

Short-Term Disability (STD)

  • Benefit: 60% of weekly earnings (maximum $3,000 per week).
  • Elimination Period: Benefits start after 8 consecutive days of qualifying disability.
  • Maximum Duration: Up to 12 weeks.
  • Definition of Disability: Inability to perform your regular occupation due to illness or injury.
  • Additional Support: Includes vocational rehabilitation and return-to-work assistance.

Long-Term Disability (LTD)

  • Benefit: 60% of monthly salary (maximum $12,000 per month).
  • Elimination Period: Begins after 90 days of continuous disability.
  • Maximum Duration: To age 65 or Social Security Normal Retirement Age (whichever is later).
  • Pre-Existing Condition Limitation: 3-month look-back, 12-month exclusion.
  • Partial Disability Benefit: Proportional replacement if working reduced hours.
  • Survivor Benefit: 3 months of continued benefit payable to family.
  • Included Services: Guardian + Wellthy Caregiving and Cancer Support programs.

How to Access Your Benefits

You are eligible for benefits starting on the first day of the month following your start date.

Within the first few weeks of your employment start date you will receive an email from bSwift inviting you to enroll in benefits. These benefits are auto-enroll, no action is required.

  • Existing Employees: As a Remote employee, you can use your bSwift user credentials to easily access your benefits anytime. If you don't know your credentials, you can use the password reset (Forgot Password) feature on bSwift to retrieve your password using your email address.
  • New Employees: As a new Remote hire, you will gain access within the first few weeks of your start date and be able to make your selections once you receive an email invite from bSwift.


Instructions:

  • Login to bSwift here: https://remote.bswift.com (Note: You will not be able to login until you receive an email invite from bSwift)
  • Username: Your personal email (the email bSwift sent an invite to)
  • Password: The last four digits of your Social Security Number
  • When you login for the first time, you will be asked to create a new password
