Remote provides a wide range of health, retirement, and EAP options to our customers, with industry-leading levels of flexibility and customization so you can tailor your benefits to the needs of your workforce.
You can customize your benefits packages by selecting one of our five health insurance plans (or choosing not to offer insurance), selecting an RRSP (retirement) plan with the option for matching, and deciding whether or not you would like to offer an Employee Assistance Plan (EAP). You may also decide to not offer any Remote health plan or RRSP matching.
IMPORTANT: All of your employees in Canada will receive the same benefits package, as these cannot be customized on a per-employee basis.
If you select a “Family” plan, your Canadian employees will be able to add dependents if they wish. If an individual employee does not add dependents, you will only be charged the “Single” rate for their plan, this is a choice we strongly encourage you to make, as it is a customary market practice to extend health insurance coverage to include dependents. Important: Only for the province of Quebec, it’s mandatory for an employee who is being offered a private medical plan to enroll their dependents into the plan, hence, it must be offered the "Family" plan. In Quebec, the benefit rules are regulated by RAMQ (The Régie de l'assurance maladie du Québec is the government health insurance board in the province of Quebec, Canada.) If you select a “Single” plan, it will be applied to all employees (current and future) and employees will not be able to add dependents, even at their own cost. Your decision will be locked in until the upcoming re-selection period in December 2024.

Customers can offer Global Business Travel Insurance to selected employees, choosing from five levels of coverage. This insurance can be provided on an individual basis, without needing to offer it to the entire team. However, the chosen plan must be consistent for all eligible employees within the same country. Employees also have the option to opt-out, and if they do, their coverage and charges will end in the following billing cycle.
It is essential to be aware that in certain countries, Business Travel Insurance may be categorized as 'Benefits in Kind' (BIK). This categorization means that the monthly premiums, which the company pays for the benefit, might be counted as part of the employee's taxable income according to the local tax laws.
