Medical Insurance

Exact Health insurance costs are dependent on each individual employee, their insurance situation (i.e. age, previous insurance, Irish residence, etc) and BIK (tax bracket).

In-patient Coverage:

  • Semi-private hospital room: Covered at public hospitals; private hospitals are covered with €150 excess per claim and subject to €2,500 co-payment on certain orthopaedic procedures; high-tech hospitals are covered (Beacon only) subject to €150 excess per claim, and 50% cover for Blackrock Clinic and Mater Private.
  • Private hospital room: Covered at public hospitals; private hospitals are covered with semi-private rate of €150 excess per claim and subject to €2,000 co-payment on certain orthopaedic procedures; high-tech hospitals are covered (Beacon only) with semi-private rate of €150 excess per claim, and 50% cover for Blackrock Clinic and Mater Private.
  • Day case in hospital: Covered at public hospitals; private hospitals are covered subject to €75 excess per claim; high-tech hospitals are covered subject to €75 excess per claim.
  • Maternity public hospital coverage: 3 nights accommodation covered
  • Home births: Covered up to €4,000
  • Emergency in-patient treatment abroad: Hospital bills covered up to €100,000; repatriation expenses covered up to €1 million.
  • Psychiatric treatment (not related to substance abuse): 100 days (up to the level of Hospital Cover provided under the plan)
  • Psychiatric treatment (related to substance abuse): 91 days per 5 years (up to the level of Hospital Cover provided under the plan)

Additional benefits include laser treatments for skin conditions and facial hair, dermatology, mindfulness, sports clubs and gym membership, sexual health screenings, discounts on teeth whitening services, stress reduction programs, self-compassion programs, life coaching, therapy for ADHD, and more.

Employees can add dependents at their own expense. Once onboarded, they will need to request a quotation directly from the vendor and set up a direct debit for their dependents.

Our plans also offer global coverage (excluding the US) to protect your employees when they are traveling outside their home country. Understanding Hiring in Ireland
  1. In Ireland, 80% of employers offer supplemental health insurance to their workforce. (based on 3rd-party market research from our partners)
  2. Ireland has both a public health system and private health system. Any Irish resident can access public health services, usually at no cost. However, it is customary for employers to provide additional private health coverage to their employees so they can access shorter wait times and access to more specialized care through the private system.
  3. Employers can choose to opt out of offering Remote’s core benefits in Ireland.
  4. You will be able to select a benefits plan when onboarding your employee. From there, the employee will be enrolled and contacted with more information about their plan. Remote takes care of all the administration work so you can focus on scaling your global team!
