What if K-12 education were designed to help all students develop lives of meaning and purpose? Wayfinder, a division of Lemnis, was founded at the Stanford d.school to answer this question. Our goal is to double our impact each year for the coming years. Our vision is to become the preeminent future-readiness curriculum company in the world — leading the global movement of purpose, meaning, and belonging-based education worldwide.

Wayfinder joined the Lemnis Collective as a nonprofit division in 2026. As a public charity, Lemnis is dedicated to the concept of the unlimited learner. Their mission is to create more accessible, flexible, learner-centered systems that help young people navigate the challenges and opportunities of the future. Wayfinder and Lemnis share that vision, especially when it comes to supporting learners in underserved communities and the institutions that serve them.

Wayfinder is the third organization to join the Lemnis Collective. The Collective brings mission-aligned organizations (both for-profit assets and nonprofits with earned revenue) under the Lemnis umbrella through mergers and acquisitions. Lemnis provides long-term, mission-driven investment, stability, freedom from the pressure of constant fundraising, and operational and strategic support, so organizations like Wayfinder can stay focused on our mission, impact, growth, and innovation.

Product: We develop our learning tools using human-centered design principles. We work with grade-level experts to ensure our curriculum is developmentally appropriate and engaging at all levels. Every Wayfinder lesson is supported by relevant research, prototyped in classrooms, and vetted by teachers over rounds of feedback and iteration. We use Universal Design for Learning principles to give every student an equal opportunity to succeed.

School Partners: We intentionally target a wide array of educational partners, from traditional to non-traditional, that work with a range of students from different socioeconomic groups. The Role

At Wayfinder, we believe every student deserves to develop belonging, purpose, and future-ready skills. Our web platform is where that happens every day for students, educators, and school communities, and we're looking for a Senior Product Designer to help shape what it becomes next.

You'll own the design of a set of features, from the first conversation with an educator to the final handoff to engineering. That means spending real time with the people who use our product. You'll talk with teachers, school leaders, and Wayfinder staff, watch how they work, and bring what you learn back to the team. Then you'll turn it into experiences that feel simple, thoughtful, and genuinely useful.

This role is for someone who's energized by understanding people's problems, loves collaborating to solve them, and is excited about the ways AI is changing both how we design and what we can build. You'll report to our Principal Product Designer and join a small team where your work has a direct, visible impact.

Responsibilities

Own the end-to-end design of a set of features, from discovery and research through concepting, prototyping, and handoff.
Lead research for your features: plan and run interviews, usability studies, and conversations with educators and students, and use product analytics to fill in the picture.
Get out and talk to people. Build relationships with current partners, listen closely, and bring their needs, frustrations, and ideas into the design process.
Share what you learn clearly and often, through written summaries, presentations, and prototypes that help the team make good decisions.
Translate concepts and technical requirements into sketches, user flows, prototypes, and handoff-ready files that balance a great user experience with business goals.
Design interfaces that are intuitive and accessible to all learners, aligned with our brand guidelines, design system, and patterns.
Design AI-enabled features that make work easier for educators and learning more meaningful for students, and use AI tools to speed up and strengthen your own design process.
Work closely with educators, designers, and engineers from discovery to delivery.
Turn your designs into build-ready specs and tickets so engineering can move quickly and confidently.
Contribute to the maintenance and growth of our component library.

Requirements

Essential experience

5+ years of experience in UI and UX design, with a portfolio of case studies that shows your process as well as your results.
A track record of leading design research, such as interviews, usability studies, and engagement with partners or customers, and turning findings into clear design decisions.
Excellent communication skills. You're comfortable leading a conversation with a teacher, presenting to stakeholders, and explaining your thinking in writing, sketches, and prototypes.
Experience designing accessible products and a working knowledge of accessibility standards (such as WCAG).
Comfort using AI tools as part of your design workflow, and curiosity about designing AI-enabled experiences.
Proficiency with Figma and familiarity with Adobe tools.
Experience collaborating with designers and engineers to create coherent, intuitive user experiences.
The ability to own your work independently, manage your own priorities in a fast-moving environment, and welcome feedback as part of doing your best work.
An entrepreneurial mindset and a bias toward action.
Fluency in written and spoken English.

Preferred experience

Experience designing PreK-12 edtech products, especially in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), college and career readiness (CCR), or durable skill development.
Experience designing AI-enabled features or workflows.
Experience working in a startup or other fast-moving environment.
An undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in product design, interaction design, human-computer interaction, software engineering, or a related field.
