Staff Product Designer
Apollo- Remote
- United States only
- Full-time
Apollo was born from open source, with one of the largest and most engaged communities in the GraphQL ecosystem. Today, we power some of the biggest names in tech. We’re seeing tremendous growth, and our mission is to continue providing developers with the best tools and services for building modern applications. Our success is driven by growth strategies, with engineers at the core of everything we do.
We're looking for a Staff Product Designer who can partner with our product and engineering teams to take our user experiences to the next level. You'll be part of a company that's scaling rapidly, making significant contributions that shape how developers use GraphQL to build better software. Your work will be used by many of the world's most innovative companies.
You'll collaborate with PMs, engineers, and teammates across Apollo to turn user needs into functional, appealing designs. You'll own the design process for key projects, working with product managers and engineering leads to define solutions and seeing them through to completion. We value innovative thinking, practical experimentation, and designs informed by user needs.
You'll build visualizations that help developers understand API schemas at a glance, create interfaces where they can connect APIs without writing much code, and design dashboards for managing schemas, monitoring events, and tracking usage across teams.
So join us and help shape the future of GraphOS!
What You Will Do
Design tools used by developers at companies like Netflix, The New York Times, and Walmart
Create interfaces that make complex technical concepts actually make sense
Join a team that's scaling rapidly as market demand for our technology grows
Build products that genuinely change how companies build and scale their APIs

You've been designing for years and know your stuff:
You understand typography, color theory, layouts, and responsive design
You care about accessibility and advocate for incorporating it into your work
You know how to use a design system but also know when to go outside its bounds
You explore multiple approaches before settling on a direction
You work well with product managers and engineers, and know how to navigate team dynamics
You stay connected to design trends and the broader tech community
You understand how HTML/CSS affects implementation (bonus if you can write some yourself)
