The IT Technician is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of IT systems, hardware, and software. This role includes providing support to end users, ensuring the security of computer networks, and assisting in the overall management of the IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate should have technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to supporting the technology needs of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Hardware and Software Support:
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware (e.g., computers, printers, network devices) and software applications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues for users.
- Perform regular maintenance on IT systems, ensuring they are up-to-date and functioning properly.
- Assist with the installation of new software or upgrades, ensuring compatibility with existing systems.
Network Management:
- Support the setup and maintenance of network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls).
- Monitor and troubleshoot network issues to ensure minimal downtime.
- Assist in maintaining network security, including firewalls, VPNs, and antivirus solutions.
- Provide support for local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and wireless networks.
User Support & Training:
- Provide technical support to end users, including troubleshooting hardware and software problems.
- Respond to help desk tickets, emails, and phone calls for IT-related issues.
- Provide user training on software applications, IT policies, and security practices.
- Assist with setting up user accounts, permissions, and access to systems.
System & Network Security:
- Assist with managing and maintaining security systems, including antivirus software, firewalls, and data encryption.
- Ensure compliance with company security policies and procedures.
- Monitor network traffic for suspicious activities and assist in preventing security breaches.
- Assist in the implementation and testing of disaster recovery plans and backup systems.
Troubleshooting & Diagnostics:
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to operating systems, network connectivity, hardware, and peripherals.
- Perform hardware repairs or recommend replacements when necessary.
- Document and track technical issues and resolutions for future reference.
IT Inventory Management:
- Track and manage IT assets, including computers, phones, printers, and other hardware.
- Ensure proper labeling and organization of equipment for future tracking and audits.
- Coordinate with vendors for hardware and software purchases or repairs.
Systems Administration Support:
- Assist in managing and maintaining server systems, backup solutions, and databases.
- Support with software updates, patches, and system upgrades.
- Assist with configuring and maintaining email systems, including troubleshooting mail issues.
Collaboration & Reporting:
- Collaborate with other IT team members to address complex technical issues or projects.
- Provide status reports on ongoing IT issues, repairs, or maintenance activities to management.
- Keep documentation of technical processes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps up to date.

Skills & Qualifications:

Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of IT systems, hardware, software, and networking.
Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently and effectively.
Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately track IT assets, document issues, and manage systems.
Time Management: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
Teamwork: Ability to work well with other IT team members and collaborate with non-IT departments.
Security Awareness: Knowledge of IT security principles, practices, and tools (e.g., firewalls, encryption, antivirus).
Certifications: IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or similar are often preferred.
Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience in IT support or a related field. Experience with help desk, network management, or system administration is an advantage.
Education: A high school diploma is required; a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.

Schedule: Typically full-time with standard office hours; however, some positions may require evening or weekend availability, depending on the needs of the organization.
Environment: Typically office-based; remote IT technician roles may be available.
