Job Title: Tax and Accounting Staff Accountant

Job Description: JBG CPAs & Advisors, LLP is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Tax and Accounting Staff Accountant to join our team. This role is ideal for a professional with a minimum of 2 years of experience in tax preparation, with 3-5 years preferred, particularly in United State of America income taxes. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing individual and business income tax returns, with a strong focus on pass-through entities, while also assisting with tax planning and identifying tax-saving opportunities for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Tax Preparation:
- Prepare and review individual and business income tax returns for small business owners, with a primary focus on pass-through entities such as S-Corporations, partnerships, and LLCs.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, particularly in United State of America income taxes.
- Collaborate with clients to gather necessary financial data and documentation for accurate tax filings.
Tax Planning and Advisory:
- Assist in the preparation of tax plans tailored to clients’ unique financial situations and goals.
- Identify tax planning opportunities to minimize tax liabilities and maximize savings for clients.
- Stay updated on tax law changes and communicate their potential impact to clients and the team.
Bookkeeping and Accounting:
- Perform bookkeeping tasks, including recording transactions, reconciling accounts, and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Prepare financial statements and reports to support tax preparation and planning.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online is highly preferred, as the role involves managing client books using this platform.
Software Utilization:
- Utilize Lacerte Tax Software for tax preparation and filing. Experience with Lacerte is a plus, but training can be provided for the right candidate.
- Leverage accounting software and tools to streamline processes and ensure accuracy.
Independent Work in a Deadline-Driven Environment:
- Work independently to manage multiple client accounts and meet strict deadlines during tax season and throughout the year.
- Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Communicate proactively with clients and team members to ensure timely completion of deliverables.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in tax preparation, with 3-5 years preferred, particularly in United States of America income taxes.
Strong knowledge of tax laws and regulations, especially for pass-through entities.
Experience with Lacerte Tax Software and QuickBooks Online is highly preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.
