Lead Android APK Developer

We’re seeking a Lead Android APK Developer to helm the creation, maintenance, and

optimization of our user-facing apps. You’ll be responsible for architecting key features,

optimizing performance, and ensuring that every interaction aligns with our philosophy of

streamlined simplicity. As a key member of our engineering team, you’ll shape how our users

experience the Minimal Phone.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect & Implement: Design and develop Android applications (primarily in Kotlin,

with some Java as needed), utilizing Jetpack components and modern best practices.

• Performance Tuning: Investigate and resolve bottlenecks in CPU, memory, and battery

usage. Employ profiling tools to ensure minimal resource consumption.

• Custom UI/UX: Collaborate with designers to build sleek, intuitive interfaces that reflect

our “less is more” ethos.

• Quality & Reliability: Implement CI/CD pipelines, automate testing, and conduct

regular code reviews to maintain a high-quality codebase.

• Leadership: Set coding standards, provide technical guidance to junior team members (if

applicable), and maintain clear documentation.

Requirements & Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional Android development experience. Advanced Kotlin skills

strongly preferred; Java background is welcome.

• Proven track record of shipping consumer-facing Android apps with a focus on

performance and reliability.• Strong understanding of Android architecture components (ViewModel,

LiveData/Flow, Room, etc.) and best practices.

• Experience with performance profiling tools (e.g., Android Profiler, Systrace) to

diagnose and fix performance issues.

• Ability to translate minimalist design concepts into smooth, intuitive user interfaces.

• Excellent communication skills and a proactive mindset in an on-site, team-focused

environment.

Nice-to-Haves

• Familiarity with custom animations, advanced UI techniques, or design tools (Figma,

Sketch).

• Exposure to device-level customization or integration, though deep system-level work is

not the primary focus here.

• Previous leadership experience (team lead, senior developer) with a track record of

mentoring.
