The world of work is evolving, and so are payment preferences.

With increasing economic volatility and a growing demand for financial autonomy, crypto payments are becoming a preferred option for many contractors worldwide.

At Remote, we understand the challenges of managing global talent. So, we’re excited to announce that you can now pay contractors in stablecoins, starting with USD Coin (USDC). This offers employers a faster, simpler, and more secure way to manage contractor payments.

Why crypto payments are the future of global compensation

While traditional payment systems meet many needs, contractors, particularly in volatile economies, benefit greatly from having flexible payment options.

Inflation or exchange rate fluctuations may sometimes affect payments in local currencies, and accessing USD wallets or stable foreign currencies might be complex or limited.

These hurdles highlight the need for an alternative payment option that combines speed and accessibility.

Enter stablecoins like USDC. Pegged to the US dollar at a 1:1 ratio, USDC is a reliable and secure alternative to fiat currencies, offering contractors stability and flexibility. It complements existing payment methods by providing a solution for contractors who need added stability and accessibility in managing their finances.

Stablecoin payouts via Remote

We’re thrilled to announce that companies using Remote can now pay contractors in nearly 70 countries with stablecoins, starting with USDC.

This new capability is now available to US-based customers, giving companies a secure and near-instant way to compensate their global contractor talent.

How contractors benefit from crypto payouts

  1. Stability in earnings: Paying contractors in USDC minimizes risks associated with currency fluctuations.

  2. Faster access to funds: Stablecoin payouts happen quickly, ensuring contractors are paid faster, unlike traditional payments, which can take days.

  3. Flexibility and autonomy: Contractors on Remote now have multiple payment options and choose which works for them. They can hold, convert, or spend USDC as they choose, enjoying financial freedom and flexibility.

Remote’s contractor management platform is already a leader in the global HR space, supporting onboarding, invoicing, and payments in 200+ countries. This stablecoin payouts payments feature enhances our platform, giving companies a seamless, single-dashboard solution to manage all their talent.

"Global hiring often comes with challenges like providing fast, flexible, and reliable payments," said Job van der Voort, CEO of Remote. "By introducing stablecoin payouts via Stripe, we’re meeting a top customer request, offering contractors their preferred payment method while ensuring compliance and simplicity."

How it works

Contractors are required to set up a compatible crypto wallet that supports the Base Network. Set up your Stripe Connect account on Remote (if not configured already). Once completed, navigate to the Withdrawal Methods tab and select Crypto as a new payout option. For detailed instructions on how to set up Crypto payouts on Remote, refer to our help article.
