Employers can generally terminate workers at will by providing advanced notice and making any required severance payments. This provision only applies to regular employees as workers on probation can be dismissed sat will.

In El Salvador, notice periods depend on the employee’s length of service and the reason for termination. There is no formal notice period within the first 2 years. A specific notice period can be separately d etermined by either collective agreement (i.e. independently agreed upon by employers and their employees).
