What this job can offer you

We are looking for a highly experienced Global Payroll, Product enhancements, Audit and Compliance Director to join our Payroll Risk and Compliance Team. In this role, you will be helping to develop, guide and build our audit and project capabilities, whilst driving our Remote Product with enhancements and best practice. Our ideal candidate will have a proven track record of driving and successfully delivering solutions on tight timelines with the ability to communicate across various stakeholder departments.

What you bring

  • Strategy, data, and results-driven. You thrive in a fast-moving, dynamic environment and are able to operate fluidly between the big picture and the small task, while never losing sight of the results driven experience of implementing Change Management within an International, remote organisation
  • Direct the Audit and Compliance Teams: Conduct comprehensive audits of payroll files and processes to verify accuracy and compliance with all governmental wage tax laws (federal, state and local) and social security requirements. Identify and rectify discrepancies, underpayments, or overpayments, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaboration and Support: Work closely with the tax/ payroll/legal/finance and Product teams to implement audit recommendations and improve payroll accuracy.
  • Extensive and proven Project Management, Change Management and Leadership Skills
  • Proven record of planning, managing and delivering improvements, whilst leading and coaching the Audit and Compliance Teams
  • Monitoring the day-to-day execution of business goals to ensure timely progress and delivery
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively and drive results in a team-oriented environment.
  • A team player. It's a highly cross-functional role, partnering closely with teams and across the organisation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that ensures the individual can engage effectively with all levels of stakeholders (including Senior Leadership)
  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to build synergies between dotted line teams
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, international work environment with a passion for making an impact
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Writes and speaks fluent English
  • Familiar with working on a remote or distributed team. It's not required to have experience working remotely, but considered a plus.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Leading Product on behalf of Payroll to ensure collaboration, visibility of roadmap and to support uptake in all Payroll departments.
  • Driving NEO on global scale to bring to market this unique offering
  • Build and lead a team primarily made up of market leading country experts to proactivity design, drive and support compliance and risk aspects of the business.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential compliance risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Actively anticipate future legislative changes and contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures that enhance payroll compliance
  • Manage and drive the end to end change process through the business when gaps have been identified on the completion of Payroll Audits, Incidents, Overpayments etc
  • Agree, direct, Project manage and communicate deadlines for the implementation of new controls and Standard Operating Procedures and Audit deliverables
  • Keep records of all projects undertaken with supporting information that provides details of Financial impact of implementation. Present information to key stakeholders as required.
  • Contribute to the strategy development of an Audit Framework and own its execution for the Audit team, by independently or managing multiple projects/programs or initiatives; priorities and timelines and then manage special projects to be undertaken
  • Identify solutions to challenges, inconsistencies, and obstacles by collaborating with necessary stakeholders including Operations, Tax, Data security, Legal etc.
  • Regularly evaluate the efficiency of business procedures according to organizational objectives and apply improvements
  • Maintain frequent and effective communication with stakeholders
  • Produce Business Plans for the Payroll Risk and Compliance team as required
  • Build relationships with Third Parties to ensure that we are not checking our own homework and obtain an independent review
  • Provide clear direction and support to junior team members

At first glance our salary bands seem quite wide - here is some context. At Remote we have international operations and a globally distributed workforce.  We use geo ranges to consider geographic pay differentials as part of our global compensation strategy to remain competitive in various markets while we hiring globally.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $140,000 to $195,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location, and our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay for the successful candidate in this role is dependent upon many factors such as location, transferable or job-related skills, work experience, relevant training, business needs, and market demands. The base salary range may be subject to change.
