Remote Benefits Plans

At Remote, we provide tailored benefits to ensure that all Remote employees receive comprehensive coverage from top providers. Our plans offer competitive rates designed for larger groups - even if the team is still growing!

Upon onboarding, Remote will enroll team members in their benefits and provide detailed information about their coverage. Remote manages all administrative tasks, allowing you to focus on scaling your global team.

To ensure benefit equality, any benefits offered will apply to all team members in the country, providing consistent coverage and support across the team.

Health Benefits

Offering health insurance in this country is not mandatory, but providing these additional health benefits can greatly enhance the healthcare experience for employees by enabling access to a wider range of providers and specialists, as well as significantly reducing wait times.

Remote offers five different health insurance plans, each with varying levels of coverage and benefits, allowing you to tailor benefits to meet the specific needs of your team.

The Basic plan includes 80% co-insurance for health services, 100% out-of-country coverage, limited paramedical services, and basic dental and vision care. The Standard plan offers enhanced coverage with 90% co-insurance, higher limits for paramedical services, and more comprehensive dental and vision care. The Plus plan provides 100% co-insurance, private hospital rooms, and broader coverage for drugs and paramedical services, along with orthodontic coverage. The Premium plan further extends coverage with higher limits for dental and vision care and a more extensive range of paramedical services. The Premium Enhanced plan includes all the benefits of the Premium plan, plus additional coverage for gender affirmation care and increased limits for various services.

If a Family plan is provided through Remote, the Canadian team members will have the opportunity to add dependents. If a team member does not add dependents, the charge will be at the Single rate for their plan. We strongly recommend providing the Family plan, as it is customary in Canada to extend health insurance coverage to include dependents. In Quebec, it is mandatory for employees with a private medical plan to enroll their dependents. Therefore, the Family plan must be offered. The benefit rules in Quebec are regulated by RAMQ (The Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec is the government health insurance board in the province of Quebec, Canada). Additional information about this legislation can be found here.

Remote also provides a Single plan option, which will be applied to all employees in the country (current and future), and team members will not have the option to add dependents, even at their own cost.

Business Travel Insurance

New Benefit Available November 1, 2024:

Remote’s Global Business Travel Insurance program is crafted to address the unique needs of your team, whether they are embarking on short business trips or traveling extensively throughout the year. With five comprehensive plan options—Basic, Standard, Premium, Premium Plus, and Standard Plus—this program ensures that your team members have the right level of coverage to protect their health, safety, and well-being while traveling for business. Available in over 90 countries, the program provides extensive global coverage at competitive rates, offering peace of mind no matter where their work takes them.

This optional benefit is designed to be flexible, allowing you to offer tailored coverage that meets the diverse needs of your workforce. By providing business travel insurance, you are taking proactive steps to safeguard your team from unforeseen events such as medical emergencies, trip disruptions, or loss of business equipment while they are on the road.

It is essential to be aware that in certain countries, Business Travel Insurance may be categorized as 'Benefits in Kind' (BIK). This categorization means that the monthly premiums, which the company pays for the benefit, might be counted as part of the employee's taxable income according to the local tax laws.
