Employment termination in Antigua and Barbuda

Termination process

Employment contracts can either be terminated with justification or at an employer’s justification, provided severance compensation is paid to the employee.

Notice period

Employees are to be notified at least a month before termination is scheduled to take effect.

Severance pay

Employees are entitled to a day’s pay for every month of service after they’ve completed a year of service with an employer.

Probation periods

Probation periods are limited to three months unless a longer timeframe is agreed upon by collective bargaining.
