Public holidays

By default, an employee is entitled to three mandatory national holidays which are Republic Day (January 26) Independence Day (August 15) Gandhi Jayanti (October 2).

Beyond these, market practice is for employers to provide additional public holidays or regional holidays (usually 10-12) based on company policy. These holidays may align with regional and religious observances. Companies decide which holidays to observe, often selecting from state government and bank holiday lists.
