Questions to ask when comparing global employment solutions

  • Does the provider own its entities?

A provider may claim to support more than 180 countries, but their legal structure in each country could put your company at risk. Look for a provider that owns local legal entities in the countries where you’re hiring so you can offer your workers the best benefits and experience while protecting your investments abroad.

  • What's included in the price?

If the provider relies on local third parties to manage HR, payroll, and benefits, you can bet they are passing those costs on to you. Be sure to ask about the fee structure, minimums, and any hidden costs that may affect your hiring budget.

  • Can I manage contractors and employees together?

If you plan to hire both contractors and employees, it’s important to have a single platform that can scale with you as you grow. Look out for minimums and extra fees if you don’t meet them.

  • Will your intellectual property (IP) be protected?

Some providers outsource HR and payroll administration to local third parties. This can expose your IP to risk and result in local legal IP experts reviewing all your third party contracts. Remote’s IP Guard offers the strongest protections for your IP and invention rights.

Get Started

Employer of record capabilities

Remote has our own legal entities in every country where we operate, enabling us to provide comprehensive localized services with unmatched support for global employees.

Remote takes care of localized payroll, benefits, taxes, and compliance wherever your team works. You never have to worry about paperwork with local authorities. Remote assists with visas and immigration as well.

Globalization Partners operates its own legal entities in over 80 locations, while relying on local partners for other locations. Although they can support a high number of countries, this may create an inconsistent experience and cause delays with onboarding key hires in new locations.

Contractor management

Remote offers invoicing and payments for contractors in more than 170 countries for a low cost of $29 per contractor per month. You can manage contractors and employees together in one platform, with localized contracts, tax management, document management, and expert guidance. We will meet you where you are today and help you scale as you expand globally.

Globalization Partners offers contractor management with global payments and local contracts. They don't offer any local guidance on contractor management, meaning you may fall foul of regulations, laws, and potentially be open to misclassification penalties and fines. US-based companies are responsible for collecting the correct documents for tax compliance and generating tax reports - potentially overloading your finance team.

Payroll

Remote's global payroll service takes the thinking out of paying your international employees. With simple, transparent pricing, a delightful self-serve platform, and expert support, you'll be running global payroll in minutes, with confidence.

Globalization Partners does not offer global payroll services, meaning you'll need to use multiple providers to manage your global workforce - resulting in inefficient processes and additional costs.

IP protections

Remote takes the protection of your intellectual property seriously. We developed Remote IP Guard to provide you with peace of mind, no matter where your team members work. Our unique IP management and transfer process guarantees the maximum protections and security. Because we do not rely on third parties, your IP belongs to you from the beginning.

Globalization Partners operates legal entities in top markets, however may rely on third parties in other regions, meaning your intellectual property rights often pass through those unknown parties and then through Globalization Partners before being transferred to you. There is also no guarantee that your IP will be protected under local or international laws.

Data security

Remote has focused on security from the beginning, which means we stay ahead of international data security standards to provide above and beyond protection.

We are GDPR and SOC 2 compliant and follow rigorous internal security measures to keep the data of your team and your company safe.

Globalization Partners has not received SOC 2 certification, and does not meet the same rigorous standards of data security as Remote.

Software and platform

Remote’s modern, secure, cloud-based platform automates day-to-day HR tasks. As the employer of record (EOR), we are responsible for keeping your team compliant. You and your workers sign a contract with us, not with a random local third party, which enables us to guarantee best-in-class benefits, full IP protection, fast service, and fair pricing. Our network of HR and legal experts stays on top of ever-changing local regulations to ensure full compliance. Think of us as your on-the-ground HR team for your local employment needs.

Globalization Partners operates its own software and offers 24/7 support, however as they work with third-party providers for support in some countries - and for certain functions within their covered countries - you may experience delays, confusion, and unnecessary back-and-forth, leading to a less effective customer support experience.

Customer support

Remote is local, no matter where your employees live and work. Our 24/7 support teams are spread across the globe, guaranteeing you receive the most comprehensive and informed service with every interaction.

Globalization Partners offers support from its internal teams for the popular locations where they own entities, although they rely on third-party providers for some countries and certain functions within their covered countries. You may experience delays in getting answers to critical issues while Globalization Partners engages their local partners before responding to your requests. This can create confusion and unnecessary back-and-forth communication, leading to a slower, less effective customer support experience.
