The solidarity contribution is a new regulation that applies an additional Social Security charge on portions of salaries exceeding the maximum contribution base (set at €4,720.5 per month for 2024). The measure, approved in 2023, aims to increase Social Security funding and will be phased in starting from 2025, with a detailed plan for incremental rate increases through 2045.The solidarity contribution will be applied in three tiers of additional charges (0.92%, 1%, and 1.17% depending on how much the income exceeds the base). These rates will progressively increase by 0.25% annually until 2045. |
