Tunisia is the perfect blend of North African Saharan landscape, Mediterranean influences, and Middle Eastern culture. It boasts a growing economy powered by exports of electrical hardware, olives, textiles, citrus, agricultural products, oil, and vehicles
The country has a sizable GDP of over $136 billion and one of the fastest internet speeds in the MENA region. In fact, 51% of the labour force is employed in service industries, and it has the 6th highest number of developers in Africa — tellingly, Tunisia will be a major talent hotspot as the world embraces remote work.

Workers' rights in Tunisia are protected by:
The Tunisian Constitution of 2014
The Labour Code of 1966
Decree 95-539 of 1995 on the functioning of regional councils and the central arbitration board in trade disputes
— all of which guarantee equal pay for equal work, the right to individual and collective labour disputes, safe working environments, and protections against discrimination based on age, religion, and race.
Common questions that could come up during the hiring process include the minimum wage, overtime rates, and guaranteed paid time off. Remote can help you offer a complete, competitive, and compliant benefits package to your employees in Tunisia.
Minimum Wage
Tunisia’s minimum wage is fixed at TND 403 ($132) per month. Note that skilled employees and expatriates based in the country will negotiate rates on a case-by-case basis which will tend to be higher than the minimum wage.
Onboarding Time
We can help you get a new employee started in Tunisia fast. The minimum onboarding time we need is 20 working days.
Our team ensures your employees are onboarded and paid as quickly as possible while keeping your business compliant with all local employment legislation. The minimum onboarding time begins after the employee submits all required information onto the Remote platform. The onboarding timeline is also dependent upon registration with local authorities.
For all non-nationals of the country of employment, the Right to Work assessment (if applicable) will add three extra days to the total time to onboard. There may be extra time required if we need to follow-up on the right to work assessment.
Please note, payroll cut-off dates can impact the actual first day of employment. Remote has a payroll cut-off date of the 10th of the month unless otherwise specified.
